Daily Lectionary
Though we long to follow God's leading every day, we often don't know what that is. An ancient practice among Christ's followers is reading the daily lectionary: assigned texts from the Psalms, Old Testament, New Testament and the Gospels. You are invited to develop a daily rhythm of listening to God's Word every day. The assigned passages can be found online at http://gamc.pcusa.org/devotion.

Women’s Connection
Ladies, you are invited to join Women's Connection as we begin a new study: He Is My All: Living in the Truth of God's Love for Me, by Debbie Alsdorf. This Livermore disciple assures us that we will be filled with an unspeakable, unshakable peace as we take in this truth. Books are $12.00 and available in Fellowship Hall after worship Sunday, August 29, Sunday, September 5, or at our first gathering at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, September 16. Please call Karen Gernand (368-3958) for more information.

Presbytery Meeting at Trinity in September ~ We Need Your Help
We are very excited that Trinity will be hosting the San Francisco Presbytery next month on Tuesday, September 14 for the first time in over 20 years. We expect to have about 350 people on our campus that day from about 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. We will need many volunteers to help make this a success, including greeters, ushers, food servers, sound system operators, and other roles. Please come to the volunteer sign-up table in Fellowship Hall on Sunday, August 22 and 29 after worship. (We'll also be happy to explain what a "presbytery" is and does!)

Community and Children
“All the Bible stories, catchy songs, classroom creativity, and fun snacks don’t mean a thing without healthy Christ-centered relationships that connect our children to one another, to adults who care about them and to the God who loves them. Community has never been a greater need for children because of this ‘hurry-up-and-fit-it-all-in’ culture.” (Liz Perraud, The LOGOS Ministry). As Children’s Ministry Team looks towards fall programming we’re looking to our church community to build these relationships with our children. Please consider how you might serve this coming school year. Contact Kristan for more information, kverv@trinity-pres.org or (650) 593-8226.

Do You Give by Check in the Offering Plate?
If so, you can do the counters a big favor by placing your check in an envelope with your name and giving number on it. If a check is received without an envelope, the counters must create an envelope for you, which takes additional time. The envelope is important because your check, with your name and the amount of the gift, goes to the bank and is deposited. Once the check is gone, the financial secretary still needs a record of what was given and by whom so that she can update the giving records. When checks are received without an envelope, the counters must take time to create an envelope so that the financial secretary can complete the records-keeping process. Thanks for your cooperation.

Dear Trinity Congregation
In order to address some communication opportunities at Trinity, we have formed the Contact Team. Our goals for this year include:

  • Updating the People Pages to be sure contact information is correct and removing names that are no longer part of our community.
  • Continuing our shift to electronic communication (updating email addresses), while also learning who is really unable to receive electronic communications.
  • Creating/publishing a new photo directory.
  • Expanding the capability of our website to include better searchability within the site, inclusion of podcasts, etc. We really need someone well versed in webpage design and new technologies to help with this. Please contact us if you are that person, or can suggest someone.
  • Using various means to interview as many of our congregation as possible in order to learn more about their interests, needs, and the ways they hope God is working in their lives and our community.
To that end, we will be contacting each of you multiple times during the coming months. We send you this notice so that you will not be surprised by the contact, and will have a little background on why we are contacting you.

Looking forward to continuing the journey with you!

The Contact Team
Jim and Rhoda Luttrell, Ken Kilen, Scott McMullin, Francine Miltenberger, Candy Richard, Lori Taylor

Acolytes
We are recruiting for acolytes for the year starting September 12, 2010 and ending September 4, 2011. Acolytes light and extinguish the candles for our worship services. We prefer youth from 5th grade through 8th grade, but sometimes take 4th graders if they are mature enough. Please call Anita Jarvis at (650) 368-1325, or email anitajarvis@comcast.net.
